With Issue 29, we are seeking versatility, starting with our covers. We offer two different points of view of our cover entrepreneurs, and we take the opportunity to look back at the “golden era” of music, when pop icons were elevated to gods and goddesses, and their talent was irrefutable.

Christine Baranski has been forever in front of our eyes. She is an actress I have admired my entire life, genuine and versatile in every project she has been part of, from “Cruel Intentions” to “Chicago” to “Mamma Mia!” Christine has been a ray of light for those who love cinema and for anyone seeking mental freedom while watching a movie or TV show to set aside their problems. Today, at 73, she is part of several successful TV shows and has more plans in the works.

Jumping to Africa, we travel to Namibia to meet Ruben Lambrechts. Through social media, I discovered his life motto, his unique relationship with Cindy the Baboon and Minki the Meerkat, his foundation, and his love for Namibia, his homeland. To me, Ruben represents a significant part of today’s youth: far from the madness of the cities, not directly connected to capitalist needs, but deeply in touch with family, wildlife, his own persona, and the way he wants to develop his future.

On the other side of the coin, we find Carlos Canela, Alex Sánchez de Mora, Francisco Faria, and Mergim Shabani. These names may not be familiar to many, but they reflect how we live today, especially in the creative world and in fan culture. The four, besides being very close friends, are some of the most prolific fashion entrepreneurs working today. They may not have the biggest numbers on social media, but they reach a wide audience that generates profit for them and their clients. Collaborating with brands from Prada to Maserati, while also offering a new vision of masculinity, we explore more about their origins. 2025 is the year of “the debuts” in fashion. Creative directors have shifted, I believe, more than ever before, generating a palpable excitement for the houses’ renewed faces, collections, and redefinition of taste. One of these debuts was Glenn Martens for Maison Margiela, beginning with the Artisanal collection last July.

For Issue 29 we explore this first collection with model Sterre Haket, revisiting and in some way “replicating” ODDA Issue 3, 13 years ago, when we did a cover with Maison Margiela Archives at the house’s former headquarters in the 11th arrondissement. The fifth cover of The Way We Are features a rising talent in Hollywood: Anna Van Patten, who has all the tools to become a future star in the film industry. Coming from a family where arts and creativity were part of her upbringing and education, Anna is deliberate about her public image and how she wants to be portrayed to the world. She embodies how today’s youth preserve their privacy and carefully measure their words more than ever. Anna is currently working on the new season of “Euphoria”.
